Cool Turkey

Getting off the digital bandwagon, slowly

I quit Twitter, Instagram and Facebook today.

I just thought I would, for no particular reason, and then I did.

I have considered doing this before. Several times, to be honest. But I didn’t go all the way, until now.

I’ve found the platforms incredibly useful, of course, and I’m in no way trying to make a statement against them. The thought of quitting suddenly occurred to me, and I followed through without hesitation. It wasn’t that difficult.

I don’t have the privilege of leaving the platforms completely, because I have a business to run, and so far its success has relied to a great extent on our social media presence. I will still be co-managing our business accounts.

Maybe I’ll reclaim those accounts and go back to the way things used to be, who can say? For now, I’m okay without them.

This also does not mean I will have no online presence. I will keep on using Medium, and continue my infrequent visits to Reddit. I haven’t quit cold turkey in that sense. Not quite cold, anyway, not for some time.
